August 2008 SVDB Santa Cruz Beach Hunt

We had 17 members from SVDB attend the Beach Hunt, the most members since holding the hunt in Santa Cruz. Another first was the high number of Gold jewelry items founds over the two morning hunts.

The Beach Hunt was a success-take a look at the chart below and you will see that there were five Gold jewelry items found, 1,089 coins for a dollar total of $89.92. This does not include the warm up coin hunt which is recorded separately.

On Sunday, Mary found a ring & religious metal, Jim a ring & David a ring -possibly his personal best. Lois found a 14KGF Cross on Saturday.

There was $246 in Silver coin value available for token and prizes with $60 of clad coins for the Warm-up Hunt.

Allan Woltman found a hand made Silver Ring up on the San Lorenzo River off Highway #9, and a old penny or two.

David Warner found a Silver Toe Ring Saturday evening.

Bob Meneely found two Silver Rings Friday PM on the beach and a Gold Diamond ring before leaving Sacramento on Friday for the beach hunt.

Next year it was decided that the Beach hunt would be held on Sunday and Monday rather them Saturday & Sunday. This would provide the hunt team with two full days of beach activity by the public and the motels are cheaper at the end of the weekend.
